Doctor of Philosophy Program
Işık University Ph.D. Program in Contemporary Management Studies is designed to provide the experience and skills necessary for a productive and competent career of research and teaching in business administration. The curriculum provides learning experiences in research methods and the theoretical and philosophical bases for knowledge development in the broad area of management.
The requirements of the program are, in addition to having a Master's degree, the successful completion of eight graduate level courses (24 credit hours), written and oral qualifying examinations, a doctoral dissertation proposal and completion of a Ph.D. thesis and its successful defense.
For students entering the Ph.D. program without a Master's degree the requirement is the successful completion of 15 graduate level courses (45 credit hours), seven of which must be the required courses of the executive MBA program, written and oral qualifying examinations, a doctoral dissertation proposal and completion of a Ph.D. thesis and its successful defense.
The Ph.D. program is conducted along three tracks: Management, Marketing, Finance. One of these tracks must be chosen by the student as his/her area of specialization. The student must take two of the complementary electives from the track chosen as the area of specialization, and two courses as free electives from tracks other than the student's area of specialization.
